How Localis works

How listings are compiled

Every company on Localis is added from publicly available information — the business's own website, public business listings, and directory profiles. For each company we record only what a real source states: the business name, the categories of equipment it rents, the cities it serves, and contact details such as a phone number or website. Each field is traceable to the source it came from, and every listing carries the date it was last reviewed.

Records are normalized (consistent phone and name formatting) and de-duplicated, so the same company discovered on two different sites becomes a single profile rather than two competing ones.

What we show — and never invent

The single rule behind this entire directory: a field is either a real, sourced value or it is left blank. We never fill a gap with a guess. In practice that means:

• No invented ratings or reviews. We don't display star ratings or review counts we can't verify first-hand, and we never generate fake ones. Where we have no reviews, we say so.
• No estimated pricing. Rental prices vary widely by equipment, date, and region, so we don't publish a price for a company unless it's real. Contact the vendor directly for a quote.
• No fabricated addresses or map pins. Many local operators don't publish a street address, so we show the city and service area they actually state. Map markers are approximate, based on the service city — never a precise coordinate we invented.
• No made-up history or specialties. Company descriptions and event specialties come from the business's own public wording, not from an AI writing a backstory.

How listings are verified

Each profile shows a status. “Compiled from public sources” means the information was gathered and dated but has not yet been independently confirmed with the business. “Verified” is reserved for listings we have confirmed directly — a status we apply conservatively rather than by default. Because that confirmation process is still rolling out, most listings today are honestly marked as compiled-from-sources, and the last-reviewed date is shown on every profile.

How results are ordered

Localis does not sell placement, and ordering is never pay-to-play. When we rank vendors — for example, the “featured” companies on a category or state page — we order by listing completeness and how recently the listing was reviewed, signals we actually have. We never rank by a popularity or rating figure we don't hold. You can always re-sort or filter to suit your own priorities.

Corrections & independence

Localis is an independent directory. We don't take booking fees, and contacting a company always goes directly to that business. If a listing is out of date or incorrect, it can be updated as we re-review from public sources. Listings are compiled in good faith from public information and may still be incomplete or out of date — always confirm details directly with the company before you book.
